Having problems getting baby to sleep?

There are so many reasons why your baby may not be sleeping. This is one of those things that is crucial to getting right. Why? If baby isn't sleeping well, you aren't sleeping well, which effects all the other aspects of your life. Let's face it, you can't function well with less than 7 hours of sleep in a 24 hour period. Likewise, your baby can't function well with less than the proper amount of sleep.

If your baby isn't getting enough sleep, he/she will be cranky and fussy, just like we are! Here are some basic things you may not have thought about yet.

  1. Simply switching from polyester sleepwear to cotton, preferably organic cotton without flame retardants.

  2. Some babies can be so particular down to a wrinkle in the fabric under them that it keeps them awake. Make sure their clothes are form fitting and their crib sheet is nice and tight on the mattress or wherever you are sleeping baby.

  3. Sleep baby where everyone in the family will get the most sleep. If that's in your bed, don't let others make you feel bad about it (just sleep responsibly). If that's in a bassinet in your room, or a separate room or in a sibling's room, go for it. Again, just sleep the baby responsibly.

I'll be back next week with more tips for baby sleep!
